Practical training on the use of OraAid adhesives on a dental model
  1. First, the dentist cuts the adhesive to the required size and removes any unnecessary extensions, since the excess adhesive on the cervical surfaces of the teeth (Cervical area) or on the movable oral tissues may cause the adhesive to detach quickly.
  2. Next, any active bleeding or exudate should be controlled with gauze or another appropriate method.
  3. The protective layer of the adhesive is then peeled off, and the adhesive itself is applied onto the intended mucosa. It should be held in place with light finger pressure for about 5–10 seconds, after which excellent adhesion will be achieved. Ideally, it will last for 5–6 hours, which is the most critical period after surgery, allowing for the formation of a stable blood clot.
  4. For longer durability, it is recommended to place a figure-8 suture on the surrounding mucosa to secure the adhesive in place. Using this method, the adhesive can remain effective for 2–3 days.
